Still Good explores Julia’s evolving artist practice through mixed media, especially through the use of up-cycled fabric and found objects — materials that might otherwise be discarded and forgotten in landfills. Old canvases. Overlooked craft supplies. Donated textiles. Objects that have lived other lives.
By intertwining her own process of grief with the lifecycle of undesired materials, Julia works through how the “shit show” of the past couple of years — and the current state of our social climate — can be composted into something else.
The work doesn’t deny the trauma scars. It doesn’t pretend everything is polished. It asks what it means to be battered and still soft. To be flawed and still accountable. To be in the process of becoming something better and yet still good.
"Still Good" is about reclamation. Of materials. Of self. Of hope.”
